A roofing quote usually means a site visit to measure, then a hand-built price. Homeowners wait days for a number, and many go with whoever answers first. Roofers spend truck rolls on people who were only shopping.

Engineering decisions that make it trustworthy.
- 01The model measures. Code does the math.The AI only returns measurements. Every number is clamped to a sane range on the server, and all pricing is plain code from a rate table the roofer controls.
- 02Honest about uncertainty.Lower AI confidence widens the price range (6%, 9% or 13%), and every quote says it's subject to an on-site inspection. The quote's job is to earn the visit, not replace it.
- 03Fail soft, never blank.A malformed AI response falls back to a flagged estimate instead of an error page, so a homeowner never hits a dead end.
- 04Keys stay on the server.Map and AI keys are only used inside server routes, and the map key is restricted to the two services it needs.
